Hawaii Pics

Here I am ejoying the wonders of underwater photography. This particular day was on our boat ride up the Na Pali Coast. We stopped for lunch and then did some snorkeling just off the beach. There's a nice little coral reef which interests the fish and keeps the waves and current to a minimum. The waterproof camera was pretty cool to have, but as you can see the colors don't come out too well. I chased a whole bunch of tropical fish around, but this film didn't do their brilliant colors justice.

Here's Julie a few days earlier at Poipu Beach. This was her first time snorkeling in the open ocean (she was pretty scared of THE PACIFIC), but she did great. This was our first day in Kauai actually, and it was pretty awesome. We saw three different types of Moray Eel!!! WOW! There were also countless little fish darting all around us.

On our last day, we tried out the boogie boards.... we're no expert boarders, but it was fun. Julie got knocked on her ass several times, but we defintely had a good time trying to catch some waves. It was especially awesome to walk down from the condo and just hop in the water first thing in the morning. As you can see, the sun was pretty low as this was just after sunrise.

BALL season ends

Our co-ed soccer season came to an end last night with a whimper. We lost 2-1 in the first round of the end of season tournament. The 'whimper' part is that we lost to a team that we beat by a landslide earlier in the season. You may remember a post back in October some time when I scored 4 goals in one game? Well, that was this team. Sadly, in the 22 minute tournament game we (and when I say "we" I mean "I" since I had to play goal last night) let them put 2 in our net. We started short handed since people were a bit late for the 6:30 start time. Ironically, we scored while we were a player down. Then they came back and scored from a free-kick, and again on a fast-break.

Tuesday ended the men's season too. That was also a short-handed game, and we also lost 2-1. I really thought we could win that one while we were playing it, but they had a great goal off of one guy's mid-air volley. It was impressive.

So, we'll start back up in January. The teams will both stay with relatively the same roster. Hopefully we can have a much better season with the men's team. I think we only had 2 wins all season with that one. Not great for playing 8 games. The co-ed team had a much better record, I think we had 4 wins and a couple of ties. Hopefully we will keep that up for the next season.

Moving Offices

Our office is moving buildings some time soon. How soon? Who knows. It was scheduled for Dec. 11th, and then for this week, then for next week. Somehow, I think we may be there by February, but I'm not holding my breath. In fact, I haven't even packed. I'm optimistic about the possibility of new offices, but of course, the realistic side of me is dreading the next few weeks.

I'm pretty sure that the phones and the network will not be up by the time we get into the new building. This presents a host of problems for everyone. There will be no stop in court dates for people, which means that we'll need access to e-mail and for the court's computer systems. I predict a lot of angry people in the weeks to come.

It's a nice idea though, a new office. It will combine the previously spread out offices that we all inhabit. People tend to lose files around here, so maybe being closer to the other attorneys will help keep that to a minimum. Maybe not.

I think it's time to move to the private sector.

Thumb Sprain

You've already seen the ankle sprain, and that's gotten much better. Now it's my right thumb... actually, most of my hand. It doesn't feel very good, and it was worse last night when I did it at men's league soccer. I guess it happened when I went up for a ball trying to score. I got knocked on my ass. Luckily for my ass, my hand was there to take the brunt of the gravity induced trip. The league is pretty competitive, and I like it a lot, but it has its hazards. This is what it looks like 24 hours later. Believe it or not, it had improved since earlier today.

and here's what it look like compared to the 'normal' uninjured hand: swollen and bruisy, yuk.

December is here?

It doesn't feel like it could be a winter month already, but here we are. Hawaii put me in a summer mood, it feels weird to be getting ready for christmas so soon.

You can see more of our pictures from Hawaii through my yahoo photo pages. These should be available now, and the labels will slowly appear on the pics. This sunset is from our hotel on Waikiki beach. Pretty sweet!!
